Island Wedding
Romantic comedy, akin to Four Weddings
and Il Postino
When a long-submerged island resurfaces
for the first time in 200 years, it rekindles
a territorial dispute between Britain and
Italy, and sparks a romantic war between
a cynical English journalist and a feisty
Sicilian fisherwoman. The script was one
of the top 100 from 5,500 entries in the
Nicholl Fellowship, the world's most prestigious
screenplay contest, run by the Academy of
Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. It also
won a Euroscript (Media II) award and was
a finalist in the Hollywood Symposium.
